Carly Alvers tallied fourth consecutive game with an RBI on Sunday

OMAHA, NEB. - DePaul softball dropped a Sunday morning matchup to Creighton, 8-1.

The DePaul (8-36, 3-18 BIG EAST) offense was led by Carly Alvers who tallied her fourth-straight game with an RBI. Additionally, Riley Pool went 1-for-2 at the plate on Sunday, hitting a double and drawing a walk while Kali Blount reached twice on Sunday, tallying a single and reaching on an error.

Bella Nigey started in the circle, going 1.2 innings while giving up six runs on five hits. Brenna Smith appeared in relief, throwing 2.1 innings with two runs (one earned) and four hits. Katey Pierce closed out the game, allowing only one hit in 2.0 innings of work.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Creighton (31-19, 14-7 BIG EAST) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. Riley Pool dropped a ball into right center to get the first baserunner for DePaul during the second inning, but was unable to come home.

The Bluejays used a five-run second inning to take control, 6-0. The Blue Demons responded in the fourth when Pool earned a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Carly Alvers followed with an RBI single to left field to score DePaul's first run, 6-1.

The Blue Demons looked to rally in the top of the seventh when Kali Blount reached second on an error in center field, but was unable to cross home.

DePaul stays on the road to wrap up the regular season with a visit to Seton Hall, May 3-5. First pitch between the Blue Demons and the Pirates on Friday, May 3 is set for 1 p.m. CT with coverage on FloSoftball.
