DePaul readies for non-conference game
CHICAGO - DePaul softball hits the road for a non-conference matchup against Iowa State, Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. CT with coverage on ESPN+ and live stats available through StatBroadcast.Â
BLUE DEMON BITS
- DePaul sits at 8-25 (3-9 BIG EAST) after going 1-2 with Butler over the weekend.
- Brooke Johnson continues to lead the Blue Demons in batting average (.385), slugging percentage (.719), runs (27), hits (37), RBIs (19), home runs (8) and total bases (69). The fifth year senior continues to rank among the top of the BIG EAST in batting average, slugging percentage and total bases.
- Brenna Smith owns a staff-best ERA of 2.78 through 58.0 innings of work. Smith has given up 36 runs on 54 hits while striking out 34 batters on the season.Â
- Katey Pierce went the distance against Butler on Saturday, throwing 9.0 innings and earning the conference win. Pierce gave up three runs on eight hits while recording two strikeouts.Â
- Riley Pool is averaging a .372 mark during the first 33 games of the campaign. Pool has recorded 32 hits with 18 RBIs and 14 runs.Â
- Redshirt Freshman Ava Paganis was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday for the first time in her career. Paganis went 4-for-9 (.444) at the plate with four hits and six RBIs.Â
ABOUT IOWA STATE
- Iowa State enters the matchup with a record of 13-21 (3-9 BIG 12).
- Angelina Allen leads the Cyclones offense with a .444 batting average. Allen has scored 27 runs and recorded 52 hits and 31 RBIs. Malaysia Ochoa follows behind with a .327 batting average and adds 35 hits and 12 RBIs.Â
- Jaiden Ralston leads the Iowa State pitching staff with a 4.46 ERA. Ralston has thrown 48.2 innings and given up 40 runs on 58 hits while tallying 40 strikeouts.
- Sophomore Tatum Johnson is the younger sister of DePaul's Brooke Johnson, marking the first time the sisters have played against each other on the college stage.Â
- Jamie Pinkerton is in his seventh season leading Iowa State.
SERIES STUFF
DePaul leads the all-time series, 3-1. This is the first time that the Blue Demons and Cyclones have met on either campus, as all previous matchups have been neutral site locations.Â
UP NEXT
DePaul continues their roadswing as they head east to take on Providence April 12-14. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT while Saturday is set for 12 p.m. CT. The weekend series will wrap up on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT. All three games will be streamed on FloSoftball.
