DePaul visits Notre Dame for second-straight meet
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – DePaul track and field returns to the Loftus Sports Center for the second straight week, competing at the Meyo Invitational from Jan. 30 - Feb. 1. The Blue Demons look to build on recent standout performances as they continue their indoor season.
Action begins Friday at 2 p.m. CT with field events, while Saturday's competition kicks off at 9 a.m. CT with the 3000m races. Running events from 1-3 p.m. CT on Saturday will be streamed live on ESPN.
DePaul will have 22 athletes competing across 14 events, with a mix of sprinters, distance runners, and field specialists representing the Blue Demons.
Last time out at the Notre Dame Invitational, DePaul put together a strong showing with record-breaking efforts and multiple top-three finishes. Darius Brown highlighted the meet with a school-record performance in the 60m hurdles, clocking 7.61 in the prelims—the eighth-best time in the NCAA this season—before winning the final in 7.98. His efforts earned him BIG EAST Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors, marking the fifth conference accolade of his career.
On the men's side, Demetrius Rolle shattered the program record in the 60m dash, winning both the prelims (6.77) and finals (6.73). Dustin Hudak added another DePaul victory in the 800m, crossing the line in 1:49.03. In field events, Alex Bernstein took second in the weight throw (20.40m), while Patrick Diakite finished runner-up in the high jump (1.91m).
For the women, Jaiah Hopf secured a long jump victory with a season-best leap of 6.09m, and Eveline Reno claimed first in the triple jump (11.93m). Tessa Roe delivered a standout performance in the 3000m, finishing second with a personal-best time of 9:38.26.
The Blue Demons will now test themselves against a competitive field at the Meyo Invitational, aiming to continue their momentum with just a few meets remaining before the BIG EAST Championships.
