Gary, Hopf Victorious as 16 Debut in Blue & Gold Invitational

Blue Demons open indoor campaign Friday
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – DePaul track and field began its 2025-26 indoor season with a pair of first-place finishes, a school record, and 16 debuts at the Blue & Gold Invitational on Friday at Notre Dame. The Blue Demons collected several top-five performances and personal records throughout the day, setting a strong tone one week before returning home for the fifth annual Blue Demon Holiday Classic.
Jaiden Gary opened his indoor campaign in dominant form, winning the men's shot put with a throw of 17.11m and adding a personal record of 17.86m in the weight throw to place third.
The Blue Demons also found success on the women's side of field events. Jaiah Hopf claimed the long jump title with a mark of 5.93m, while Eveline Reno secured third in the high jump at 1.67m. Freshman Aubrey Phillips followed closely behind in fifth at 1.62m. In the pole vault, newcomer Katelyn Welsh broke the DePaul school record after clearing 3.50m to finish fourth overall. Laila Richardson highlighted the throws crew with a personal best of 13.53m in the weight throw.
Strong results carried onto the track. Nadja Moll earned runner-up honors in the 400m, crossing the line in 56.66. In the 500m, Lauren Pacsi (1:17.75) and Amelia Montgomery (1:19.40) both finished inside the top ten. Sade Miller added a sixth-place effort in the 60m, clocking 7.69.
On the men's side, sophomore Daniel Fasasi turned in one of the meet's standout performances, placing second in the 500m with a time of 1:03.53, just 0.29 seconds shy of the DePaul program record. In his Blue Demon debut, Denhm Holt raced to third in the 400m at 47.96. Rounding out the day, John Bush placed fourth in the 1000m (2:25.55) and Harper Bryan recorded a personal best of 35.37 in the 300m.

At the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, Mohamed Abdullahi and Vivian Wyller will represent DePaul. Abdullahi is entered in the men's 5000m, while Wyller will line up in the women's 5000m field amid a competitive slate featuring Power Five programs and professional entrants.
