Lydia Ettema tallies second career home run
Kelly Greene earned the nod in the circle, allowing 11 runs on eight hits in 1.1 innings pitched. Greene was tagged with her seventh loss of 2025. Ava Gusel briefly entered in relief, giving up four runs on two hits in one inning of work. Freshman Hannah Messer made her sixth appearance of the season in the third frame, pitching the final 2.2 innings, and allowing just one hit. Messer retired the first five batters she faced.
Designated player Lydia Ettema hit her second career home run and first of the season, bringing across all three runs for the Blue Demons.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Seton Hall quickly opened the scoring, notching six runs in the first, after a single from Olivia Gilbert, and double from Andrea Perez. Three walks with the bases loaded accounted for the Pirates' final runs of the frame.
Designated player Lydia Ettema responded, launching just her second career home run to score Cosgrove and Beaupre after both were walked.
The Pirates would tack on four more in the second, and five additional runs in the third frame. Despite freshman Hannah Messer allowing just one hit in the final two innings, the Pirates would take the 15-3 victory.
UP NEXT
DePaul will amend the schedule for the conclusion of the series due to impending cold weather, playing a doubleheader Saturday. The first game will begin at 11 a.m., and the second game will begin at approximately 1:30 p.m. Both games will be streamed on FloSports.
