Throwers Lead the Way for DePaul at Black & Gold UCF Invite

Beckman places third in discus throw on day two
ORLANDO, Fla. – In its first outdoor meet of the season, DePaul track and field competed against a field of highly competitive teams at UCF's Black and Gold Invitational, many of which were ranked, coming up with major results. DePaul competed in twelve more events on Saturday, totaling 19 on the weekend in Orlando, Fla. The Blue Demons' lone medalist on Saturday, Jessica Beckman, grabbed bronze for her performance in the women's discus throw, with a final mark of 47.57m to lead the way on day two.
In the women's field events, Beckman's bronze in the discus led the day for the Blue Demons. Eveline Reno competed in both the high jump and triple jump, finishing sixth and 15th, respectively, while Jaiah Hopf landed just outside the podium in the triple jump with a leap of 12.70m.
Jaiden Gary paced the DePaul men in the discus, landing 20th with a throw of 40.93m, and Patrick Diakite cleared 1.91m in the high jump to place 23rd.
On the track, the women's 4x100m relay team of Lowe, Mays, Mays, and Miller ran to an 11th-place finish. Sonja Nagle clocked 2:11.16 in the 800m for 11th, with Lauren Pacsi placing 28th in the same event. Claire Dunn added a top-20 showing in the 400m at 55.51.
In the sprints, Demetrius Rolle placed eighth overall in the men's 100m, while Dominic Cole took 30th. On the women's side, Sade Miller led the group in 23rd, followed by Jetta Mays and Nevaeh Lowe in a strong trio performance.
