DePaul returns outdoors April 3-5 at Chicagoland Championship
ELMHURST, Ill. – DePaul track and field returns to the oval April 3–5 for the local Chicagoland Championships, hosted by Elmhurst University. The three-day meet will be split between two venues, with Thursday's throwing events taking place at Lawson Field at Wheaton College and all remaining competition held at Elmhurst's recently resurfaced Langhorst Track & Field facility.
Thursday's action begins at 10 a.m. with the hammer throw, shot put, javelin, and women's discus all running concurrently. The men's discus will follow later in the afternoon once the hammer concludes. On Friday, events at Elmhurst begin at 3 p.m. with a mix of field events and sprint prelims, followed by distance races throughout the evening, including the steeplechase, 1500m, and 10K. Saturday wraps up the meet with a full slate of finals beginning at 10 a.m., headlined by the 4x100 relay, 400m dash, and 4x400 relay to close out the day.
DePaul opened its outdoor season at UCF's Black & Gold Invitational on March 21–22, highlighted by several top-five finishes across field events. Kash Allen and Alex Bernstein each recorded runner-up placements in the shot put and hammer throw, respectively, while Jessica Beckman earned a bronze medal in the discus. Jaiah Hopf impressed with a pair of strong performances in the horizontal jumps, landing in the top five in the triple jump and top ten in the long jump. Jaiden Gary also placed fourth in the men's shot put, helping cap a productive weekend for the Blue Demons in Orlando.
Hopf, Allen, and Bernstein each enter the weekend ranked among the top 50 in the NCAA in their respective events, while a strong group of Blue Demons hold top-three marks in the BIG EAST. Hopf leads the conference in the triple jump and sits second in the long jump, while Allen and Gary own the top women's and men's shot put marks.
