TAMPA, Fla. – DePaul track and field returns to the Sunshine State for the South Florida Invitational, hosted at USF's Track & Field Stadium, April 11–12.
Competition begins at 9 a.m. CT both Friday and Saturday, with events spanning two full days. Field events open each morning, while running events take center stage during the evening sessions starting at 4:05 p.m. CT. All events will be run as finals against time, and field competitions will be conducted in flights. Live results are available here.
Friday's schedule features all men's events, while Saturday is dedicated to the women. The Blue Demons will have over 20 student-athletes competing, from sprints to distance and hurdles on the track, to throws and jumps in the field.
DePaul heads into the weekend following an impressive three-day showing at the Chicagoland Championships, April 3–5 in Wheaton, Ill. Freshman Tessa Roe made program history on the final day, winning the women's 3000m in 9:38.20 to break a 20-year-old school record. Damian Rodriguez joined Roe atop the podium in the men's 3000m, while Leandria Elam and Alyssa Leak swept the women's 100m and 400m hurdles, respectively. Dustin Hudak also claimed the men's 1500m with a personal-best 3:52.82, and Vivian Wyller impressed in her 5000m debut, finishing first in 17:25.91.
In the field, the Blue Demons were led by veterans Kash Allen and Jessica Beckman. Allen took first in the women's shot put with a season-best 14.10m, while Beckman opened the meet with a win in the discus at 47.39m. Jaiden Gary posted a personal best in the men's discus at 45.07m, and Ella LeRoy made her DePaul debut with a third-place mark in the women's javelin.
The USF Invitational marks DePaul's second trip to Florida this outdoor season, following a productive showing at UCF's Black & Gold Invitational. The Blue Demons enter the weekend with two athletes ranked among the nation's top 50—Jaiah Hopf sits 47th in the women's triple jump, while Alex Bernstein ranks 40th in the men's hammer throw. Seven Blue Demons currently lead the BIG EAST in their respective events: Allen, Bernstein, Gary, Hopf, Rodriguez, Roe, and Demetrius Rolle.
