
First-Place Finishes Cap Dual-Meet Weekend for Blue Demons

Allen, Orozco, Rodriguez claim gold
TAMPA, Fla. / WHEATON, Ill. – DePaul track and field closed out a productive Saturday with strong performances at two meets, including first-place finishes from Kash Allen in the shot put at the South Florida Invitational and Damian Rodriguez in the 800m at the Wheaton Invitational, along with a dominant sweep of the women's 800m in Wheaton.
At USF Track & Field Stadium in Tampa, Fla., Allen led the way with a 15.52m mark in the shot put, continuing her strong spring campaign. Jessica Beckman followed in ninth with a throw of 12.87m, while Jaiah Hopf posted a pair of fourth-place finishes—leaping 6.04m in the long jump and 12.72m in the triple jump.
Sade Miller paced DePaul in the 100m, placing 14th in 11.67, followed closely by Jetta Mays in 17th at 11.69. Mays returned for the 200m later in the day and ran 24.25 to finish 23rd. Claire Dunn placed 13th in the 400m with a time of 55.42, and Alyssa Leak clocked 1:03.89 in the 400m hurdles to finish 15th.
Charlotte Anderson added a 10th-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 36.68m, and Allen returned to the ring for a 37.53m mark in the discus, placing 16th overall.
While several Blue Demons wrapped up the second day of action in Florida, a separate group traveled to McCully Stadium for the single-day Wheaton Invitational—adding one more competitive opportunity to the team's weekend.
The Blue Demon women delivered a sweep in the 800m, claiming the top five spots. Isabella Orozco led the pack with a winning time of 2:13.23, followed by Sonja Nagle (2:13.35), Lauren Pacsi (2:16.17), Madison Volz (2:16.24), and Amelia Montgomery (2:16.43). In the 1500m, Nina Amicon turned in a strong effort to place fourth in 4:37.49.
On the men's side, Rodriguez took home the 800m title with a time of 1:53.21, while Owen Larkins finished sixth at 1:55.23. In the 110m hurdles, Jorden Reddick led the Blue Demons with a third-place finish in 15.18. Harper Bryan placed fourth in 15.65, and Ryan Usher took seventh in 15.95. Griffin Lehnhardt closed out the day in the 1500m, clocking in at 4:09.36.
