DePaul Travels to Illinois for Intrastate Battle

Teams to face-off for fourth consecutive year
CHICAGO – DePaul softball will travel to Urbana, Illinois on Tuesday, April 22 for a midweek battle with Illinois. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. from Eichelberger Field, and admission is free for all fans. The game can be streamed on B1G+ here, and also followed through live stats here.

DePaul hosts Creighton April 25-27 for a three-game BIG EAST series at Cacciatore Stadium. Fans can donate to pediatric cancer organization Cal's Angels here, with $10 or more good for ten swings at the postgame home run derby on Friday, April 25. The Blue Demons will welcome all furry friends for Bark at the Park on Sunday, April 27.

- DePaul is 3-2 in midweek contests this year, most recently defeating the UIC Flames at home on Tuesday, April 15
- Lydia Ettema added two home runs over the weekend, her second conference series with multiple home runs, and also leads the team in slugging percentage (.588) and RBI (21)
- Senior Carly Alvers added hits in all three games against UConn, her first time registering hits in three consecutive games this season, including her fourth multi-hit game on Saturday, April 19
- Brooke Cwick notched her first two doubles of the year against UConn on Friday and Saturday, both times entering as a pinch hitter
- Bella Nigey continues to hold a staff-best 2.84 ERA and 61 strikeouts, pitching 9.1 total innings across two games against UConn
- Illinois enters their matchup with DePaul on a three-game skid, dropping the series to Purdue, including a 1-0 12-inning marathon on Friday, April 18
- The Illini have participated in eight one-run games over the course of the season, including a walk-off victory against conference rival Michigan State
- Illini infielder Eileen Donohue and DePaul outfielder Morgan Rogers both attended Marist High School in Chicago, with Donohue owning a .327 average at the plate and nine home runs, both team bests
- Megan Neuchterlein, Karley Yergler, and Lauren Wiles take the bulk of the work for the Illini in the circle, combining for 81% of the total innings pitched
- Neuchterlein holds the top ERA at 3.52, while Yergler posts a staff-best 1.38 WHIP and 50 strikeouts
SERIES STUFF
- DePaul narrowly leads the all-time series, 14-12-1, but the Illini have emerged victorious in the last five meetings, dating back to April 15, 2015
- On the road, the Blue Demons hold a 6-3-1 edge, with their most recent victory in the series coming at Illinois on April 16, 2014
