Morgan Rogers adds her third home run of 2025

Urbana, Ill. – DePaul softball fell to Illinois on Tuesday evening, 9-4.

Bibianna Rodriguez added her fourth multi-hit game of the season with two base hits on the day, and Carly Alvers extended her hitting streak to four games.
Freshman Hannah Messer earned her fourth start of the season in the circle, giving up four runs on five hits in three innings. Fellow freshman Ava Gusel entered in relief, conceding four runs on four hits in the final three innings of work.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams traded solo home runs in the opening frame, the third this season for DePaul outfielder Morgan Rogers, and fourth for Illinois catcher Keirys Click. Paige Berkmeyer also worked a bases-loaded walk, giving the Illini a one-run advantage.

Two innings passed before Stevie Meade launched a triple to score an additional pair of runs for Illinois in the fourth, and a base hit from Click scored Meade on the following play. A ground out from Adisyn Caryl then scored Meade, and Berkmeyer tallied a two-RBI single to conclude the frame.

The Blue Demons mounted a brief comeback, with a ground out from Chelsea Parker scoring Carly Alvers in the sixth along with an RBI single from Kelly Beaupre and RBI ground out from Alvers in the seventh. It would not be enough to take control of the game, and Illinois took the 9-4 victory.
