Blue Demons travel to Des Moines for another midseason rumble
DES MOINES, Ia. – DePaul track and field heads west for the 115th Drake Relays, set for April 25–26 at historic Drake Stadium. With 36 student-athletes entered across a full slate of events, the Blue Demons will showcase their strength in sprints, relays, distance, and field competitions during one of the sport's most storied meets. Fans can follow the action here.
Coming off a series of standout performances across the country, DePaul enters the weekend with both momentum and measurable marks. Kash Allen headlines the throws group after breaking the school's outdoor shot put record last weekend with a 15.97m mark—placing her among the top 50 in the NCAA. On the men's side, Alex Bernstein leads the BIG EAST in the hammer throw and holds a top-30 national ranking after his 66.47m performance at the Gibson Invitational.
DePaul also features several athletes who currently sit atop the BIG EAST leaderboard, including Demetrius Rolle in the men's 100m, Sade Miller in the women's 100m, Jaiah Hopf in the women's triple jump, and Jaiden Gary in the men's shot put. Middle-distance standout Dustin Hudak, the school record holder in the men's 800m, is set to compete again this weekend after clocking a 1:48.03 at the Bryan Clay Invitational—his second consecutive week breaking the program record.
Relay action will be a major storyline for the Blue Demons in Des Moines. The women's 4x100m team enters the weekend ranked second in the BIG EAST during the outdoor season, while the women's 4x400m and men's 4x400m squads return after placing third and fourth, respectively, at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships. The men's 4x800m group also looks to build on its fourth-place finish indoors, featuring a mix of experienced legs including Hudak and Jack Ward. In the distance medley relay, Damian Rodriguez represents DePaul for the men after anchoring several strong showings this season, while the women's DMR group returns key legs from its indoor rotation. DePaul will also contest the sprint medley relay on both the men's and women's sides.
The distance group brings momentum from recent performances. In addition to Hudak's record run, William Previdi is set to compete in the men's 3000m steeplechase after winning the event last weekend with a time of 9:27.90. Vivian Wyller and Madison Volz are also trending upward in the women's 1500m, each recording personal bests in Terre Haute.
