DePaul records eight wins in final day at Kalamazoo
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – DePaul men's tennis wrapped up their stay at the WMU/Vredevelt Invite Saturday evening, tallying a total of 10 singles victories and five wins in doubles.
In the second round of doubles play, the Blue Demons excelled. Freshman duo Augusto Pardo Cano and Bernardo Vialle toppled Ronin Kasday and Nicholas Balthazor of Butler, 6-4.
DePaul then doubled down against Marquette as Austrian native Tobias Leitner and Sebastian Medica beat Evan Glebov and Ivan Vazquez, and Thomas Giles and Sven Moser defeated Kristian Blagoev and Luke Coppage, 6-2 and 6-3 respectively.
Medica and Leitner finished the job in the third round of doubles, beating Marquette's Blagoev and Coppage in a battle, 7-6. The duo finished with a 2-1 record in doubles competition at Kalamazoo.
Leitner carried his impressive performance into the final round of singles competition against Butler's Arnesh Singh, as he quickly took set one, 6-2. In a back and forth set two battle, Leitner ultimately bested Singh 7-5, securing the matchup win.
Continuing the final round of singles, Giles met his match taking on Butler's Siddhartha Lama and battling through a tough set one, 7-6(4). Giles then shut the door on Lama in set two, taking it 7-5.
Closing out with dominance, Moser knocked off Vazquez of Marquette in a straight sets victory, winning 6-1, 6-1.
The Blue Demons capped the event as Vialle recorded a default win over Coppage.

TULSA, Okla. – Day one of the ITA All-Americans Tournament kicked off Saturday, Sept. 20. Blue Demon Alejandro Gandini is set to compete in Tulsa, participating in singles competition.
Graduate transfer Gandini took on Florida's Andreas Timini in the first round of the singles tournament where he dropped the first set, 3-6. After battling in set two, Gandini ultimately fell in a tight, second set tiebreaker 7-6(3).
UP NEXT
The ITA All-Americans continue as sophomore Thomas Giles teams up with Gandini for doubles play. Competition picks up Sunday, Sept. 21 and continues through Thursday, Sept. 25.
