Blue Demons Visit Naperville for Saturday Competition

Track and field returns to action at North Central College
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – A full slate of competition awaits DePaul track and field on Saturday, Jan. 17, as the Blue Demons take part in the Pat Heenan Invitational at North Central College. Action from Al B. Carius Track begins at 10:30 a.m. with both field and running events scheduled throughout the morning.
The Field
Participating teams include Benedictine, Coe, Concordia (Wis.), Concordia Chicago, DePaul, Harper College, North Central, North Park, Northwestern, Olivet Nazarene, St. Francis (Ill.), and Wheaton.
Event Breakdown
DePaul is slated to compete in women's pole vault, high jump, shot put, and weight throw, along with men's long jump on the field side. Track events include the women's mile, men's and women's 60-meter dash, and men's and women's 60-meter hurdles.

DePaul enters the weekend following a strong showing at the Badger Midwest Invite on Jan. 10 at Gately Indoor, highlighted by several standout field performances. The Blue Demons secured multiple event wins, led by Katelyn Welsh, who claimed first place in the women's pole vault while matching her personal best and the program record with a clearance of 3.55m. DePaul also found success in the women's triple jump, where Eveline Reno and Asha Pierre-Antoine finished first and second, respectively.
On the men's side, Sergio Ayala delivered a winning performance in the weight throw with a personal-record mark of 15.63m, while Jaiden Gary added a runner-up finish in the shot put. The men's distance group turned in a strong day on the track as Jack Broghammer captured the 1000m title, Reid Waco set a personal record in the same event, and Daniel Grauer earned a top-three finish in the 3000m.
