Blue Demons collect event titles at Pat Heenan Invitational
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Event titles from Demetrius Rolle, Joshua Hill, and Aisha Kazeem guided DePaul track and field to a day full of top-five performances at the Pat Heenan Invitational on Saturday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
Women's field events set the tone for the Blue Demons. Aubrey Phillips led DePaul with a second-place finish in the high jump after clearing 1.55m and added another podium result by placing second in the shot put with a mark of 11.73m. Ashleigh McArdle followed closely behind in the high jump, finishing third at 1.50m, while also recording a personal-best throw of 11.23m to place fifth in the shot put. Olivia Tomko-Santos placed fourth in the shot put at 11.26m, and Katelyn Welsh secured a third-place finish in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.37m. In the weight throw, Sophia Nguyen added another podium performance, placing third with a mark of 13.25m.
The men's field group delivered DePaul's second event title of the day. Joshua Hill claimed first place in the long jump with a winning mark of 7.02m, while Angel Escamilla followed in second after recording a personal-best leap of 6.89m.
The Blue Demons found continued success on the women's side of the track, led by an event victory from Aisha Kazeem. Kazeem qualified first in the 60m hurdles prelims before winning the final with a time of 8.89.
The men's track performances were headlined by Demetrius Rolle. Rolle won the men's 60m in 6.76 after qualifying first in the 60m hurdles prelims with a time of 6.47. Alex Long-Craine added a fourth-place finish in the 60m while setting a personal record at 6.90, and Harper Bryan placed third in the 60m hurdles final with a time of 8.72.
