DePaul’s outdoor season continues with another test
DES MOINES, Ia. – DePaul track and field travels to Drake University April 22-25 for the 116th annual Drake Relays Invitational, continuing its outdoor campaign in Des Moines. 39 Blue Demons are entered to compete across sprints, relays, distance and field competitions. Last Time Out
Track and field closed a split weekend with record-setting performances at both the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., and the Gibson Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
Junior distance runner Kalina Urbaniak set a program record in the women's 1500m with a time of 4:20.89. In Indiana, Alex Bernstein continued his dominance in the throwing circle, extending his own program record in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 71.13m.
Alongside Bernstein, Blue Demon student-athletes tallied top marks in two more events over the weekend. Freshman Lauren Drew took the top spot in the women's discus throw with a distance of 46.32m, and Sade Miller won gold in the women's 100m, with a time of 11.44, setting a personal record in the process. These performances highlighted an overall strong team performance at the Gibson Invite last weekend.
Adding to the 'Board
Bernstein's record-setting hammer throw vaulted him to the No. 8 spot in the country, marking the highest NCAA ranking for a Blue Demon this season and maintaining his placement atop the Big EAST standings in the event. Sade Miller and throwing specialist Jaiden Gary also earned top-100 NCAA placements in Terre Haute. Miller's 11.44 in the women's 100m ranks No. 81 nationally, while Gary posted a 18.07m mark in the men's shot put, moving him to No. 61 in the country.

Following their stint in Des Moines, DePaul track and field will conclude the 2026 outdoor season in Champaign, Ill. for the Gary Weineke Memorial. The two-day event will kick off Friday, May 1.
