Blue Demons host third new opponent of 2026 on Sunday
CHICAGO – The DePaul women's soccer team returns to Wish Field Sunday, Sept. 13, to kick off a two-game home stand with North Texas. First whistle for the first-ever meeting between the two programs is scheduled for 1 p.m., with match coverage accessible on ESPN+.
DePaul Debrief
The Blue Demons notched their third shutout of the season after battling the Loyola Chicago Ramblers to a 0-0 result at Loyola Soccer park.
DePaul had a couple of chances in the first half to break the deadlock, the first coming in the fifth minute on a shot from Dory Latenser and the second from Mya Gardner in the 17th minute. Both shots missed the mark, keeping the score even.
At the half, both teams rattled off three shot attempts, and DePaul earned two corner kicks. Defensively, goalkeeper Mason Hillery made two saves through the first 45.
Loyola came out of the break with an offensive intensity, building a 10-4 edge in shot attempts. Two of the closest calls started with a free kick from Loyola goalkeeper Allison Deardorff near midfield and ended with Hillery and the backline refusing to relent.
With the 0-0 draw, the Blue Demons returned home with one point on the day.
Scouting North Texas
Ahead of its first-ever battle with the Blue Demons, North Texas overcame a three-game winless stretch with a 10-0 show of dominance over Nelson on Thursday.
Entering halftime with a 2-0 lead off goals from Beya Rosales and Lillian Vandiver, the Mean Green scored eight goals in the second half to cap off an offensive masterclass.
Claire Niedermeier and Mya Mitchell each notched two goals on the night, and six other North Texas players added a tally to the score column. North Texas outshot Nelson 41-2.
Niedermeier's production in front of goal this season produced a team-high eight goals for the Mean Green. She is one of 10 different scorers for North Texas this season. Sarah Margaret Seabrook leads the team between the posts. In seven starts this season, the North Texas netminder recorded 32 saves and allowed 12 goals.
