Blue Demons aim for strong finish before BIG EAST play begins
CHICAGO – The Blue Demon women's soccer team is set to compete in match two of a three-game home stand on Thursday, facing off against Southern Indiana in the two programs' first encounter. First whistle is set for 4 p.m., with streaming available on Marquee Sports Network.

The Blue Demons dropped a 1-0 decision against the visiting North Texas Mean Green in the first meeting between the two programs.
North Texas scored the first and only goal of the match in the 20th minute after a foul on DePaul in the box earned the Mean Green a penalty kick. Goalkeeper Mason Hillery was unable to stop the penalty strike, and North Texas took a 1-0 lead.
The Blue Demons responded by stringing together four shot attempts in two minutes to close the half, but none met their mark. DePaul was narrowly outshot 7-4 in the first half, and Hillery executed the one and only save of the first 45 minutes.
DePaul's offensive opportunities increased in the second half, the team tallying six shot opportunities and two critical corner kicks in the 84th and 90th minutes. Despite late efforts, the Blue Demons were unable to upend North Texas goalkeeper Sarah Margaret Seabrook, taking their second defeat of the season and first at home.
Mason Hillery made two saves in the afternoon, and DePaul ended the game with 10 shot attempts.
Scouting Southern Indiana
Thursday's meeting with the Blue Demons marks Southern Indiana's fourth consecutive match on the road. The Screaming Eagles are 1-2 over this stretch, and have gone 1-6-2 overall this season.
Southern Indiana's only win this season came on a 1-0 clean sheet over Cleveland State University on the road Sept. 10. Lilah Katz scored the lone goal of the match, assisted by Eva Boer.
Most recently, three days after beating Cleveland State, Southern Indiana had its one-game win streak thwarted by Valparaiso, which bested the Screaming Eagles 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. Southern Indiana outshot the Beacons 12-11, but couldn't find the back of the net in the contest.
Goalkeeper Merrick Schwalbach started every contest for the Screaming Eagles this season. She grabbed 36 saves and allowed 13 goals over nine matches, claiming three shutouts.

The Blue Demons and Screaming Eagles will meet for the first time in program history on Thursday.
