CHICAGO (AP) -- Keisha Hampton and Taylor Pikes each scored 16 points as No. 13/18 DePaul women's basketball team improved to 6-0 in the BIG EAST Conference -- its best start ever -- with a 77-59 victory over Seton Hall on Saturday at McGrath Arena.
The Blue Demons (19-2, 6-0 BIG EAST) never trailed and led by as many as 38 points in the second half before the Pirates (7-12, 0-6 BIG EAST) trimmed the margin.
Kandice Green collected a game-high 20 points for Seton Hall while Kashmere Joseph had 12.
Anna Martin rounded out the Blue Demon trio in double-figures with 12 points. The sophomore added four assists for the DePaul who finished with 19 assists on 26 baskets.
DePaul extended a two-season McGrath Arena winning streak to 14 games and has won 16 of its last 17 since late November.
DePaul started the game by hitting 8-of-12 (66.7 percent) and opened an early 21-6 lead. With its swarming defense 10 of DePaul's first points were off Seton Hall turnovers. The lead topped 20 points at 31-9 on Hampton's jumper and was 40-9 when the Pirates finally hit double digits on Alexandra Maseko's two free throws.
Hampton became the first DePaul player in double figures at 5:32 and had 13 points by halftime as the Blue Demons opened a 50-22 lead, their second largest of the season at intermission.
Pikes added 10 first half points as DePaul was 16-of-31 (51.6 percent) from the field. Seton Hall made just 6-of-27 for 22.2 percent; it's second lowest of the season.
The Blue Demon lead reached 67-29 on Katherine Harry's jumper with 11:36 to play, then steadily fell as Pirates shooting improved. The Blue Demons slipped to 10-of-30 (33.3 percent) and they turned the ball over 13 times.
DePaul remains one-half game behind league-leading Connecticut (18-1, 7-0) and play the Huskies on Feb. 5 on the road.
The Blue Demons travel to Cincinnati on Jan. 25 for a 6 p.m. (CST) game and then host No. 9/9 West Virginia Jan. 30.
