Coming Off Two BIG EAST Wins, DPU Hosts Marquette

Coming off of two consecutive BIG EAST wins against Georgetown and Butler, the Blue Demons are set to host conference foe Marquette.
CHICAGO - After defeating Georgetown and Butler in consecutive BIG EAST matches, the Blue Demons are set to host conference foe Marquette Saturday for a noon match at McGrath-Phillips Arena.
"The team is starting to get within our system and they are confident," said head coach Marie Zidek. "It's a phenomenal opportunity to take on an offensively loaded Marquette squad.
"This will be match one of what will become a really fun rivalry as we continue to improve. We are very much looking forward to the challenge with an attack and resilient mentality. If we can cover, play extend, and create extra opportunities for our hitters to score points, we will be very competitive."
In Wednesday's match against Butler, Four different DePaul sources recorded double-digit digs in the match, with Claire Anderson and Katie Dolan contributing 12-a-piece, Mattie Norris tacking on 10 and MacKenzie Savage adding a match-high 25. The contest also saw double-digit kills from four DePaul sources, with Anderson recording 15 for her third double-double of the season, Isabell De La Rosa and Avarie Evans-Allen putting up 12-a-piece and Emma Price putting up a team-high 17.
Last Time Versus Marquette
In 2017, DePaul fell in three sets to Marquette on Senior Night at McGrath-Phillips 3-0 (23-25, 23-25, 19-25). DePaul led the first two sets for a majority of the stanza but could not hold off the Golden Eagles.
Scouting the Golden Eagles
Marquette, who is 13-4 (4-1 BIG EAST) recently had two players named to BIG EAST weekly awards, with one being junior Allie Barber, who was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Barber averaged 4.67 kills in a 2-0 week for No. 19 Marquette as the Golden Eagles earned a pair of sweeps over Georgetown and Villanova. The Cedarburg, Wisconsin native also hit a .397 clip in the two matches.
Konovodoff collected 5.00 digs per contest in the two matches with five service aces, including four against Villanova. She currently ranks third in the BIG EAST averaging 4.94 digs per set.
