The Blue Demons took the second set but would fall in four sets in a hard fought battle against Saint John's.

CHICAGO – The Blue Demons took the second set in a close battle against Saint John's but would go on to drop in four sets 1-3 (17-25, 27-25, 21-25, 20-25). This adjusts DePaul's record to 5-23 (3-14 BIG EAST).

In the first set, Saint John's scored eight of the first twelve points before DePaul went on a 2-0 run on kills from Ashley Marshall and Claire Anderson to bring the score within two with SJU leading 8-6. DePaul would score only seven of the next 20 points to find the Red Storm in a comfortable 21-13 lead. Back-to-back Anderson kills would bring the Blue Demons closer but DePaul would go on to drop the first set 17-25.

DePaul would jump out to a 5-1 lead featuring a kill from Donna Brown and back-to-back Mattie Norris kills, forcing a SJU timeout. Out of the stoppage, Emma Price tacked on an additional kill to widen the lead. The Blue Demons would hold the lead until the Red Storm gained enough momentum to go on a 7-0 run to knot the score at 14's. The score would bind three more times before a SJU service error and a kill from Isabell De La Rosa would win DePaul the second set 27-25.

The Blue Demons would go on a 3-1 run to open the third set and Saint John's would quickly match the score. The score would bind five times before DePaul trailed behind, dropping the third set 21-25.

The final set would remain narrow as DePaul captured the first lead again at 2-0 that was quickly responded to. Six more ties in the score, the last being 16's across the board would lead to a 3-0 SJU run, putting Saint John's up 19-16. A 3-0 run from DePaul featuring an Ashley Marshall kill and back-to-back Katie Dolan service aces would bring DePaul closer, but the Blue Demons would go on to drop the fourth set 20-25.

The Blue Demons will compete in their final match of the season tomorrow as they host Seton Hall for Senior Night. All seniors from both teams will be honored before the match and play will start at 6:00 p.m.
