DePaul Pulls Away From Florida A&M

Blue Demons hold Florida A&M to lowest score by an opponent since December 2012
CHICAGO – A season-high 16 points from Femi Olujobi led DePaul to a 65-50 win over Florida A&M as the Blue Demons won for the fifth time in as many games at Wintrust Arena. Three players scored in double-figures as DePaul held its opponent to the fewest points in nearly six years.
The 50 points allowed on Monday night were the fewest since an 84-50 win against Milwaukee on Dec. 9, 2012 at Allstate Arena.
While DePaul's defense held Florida A&M throughout the night, the Blue Demons faced their toughest offensive game of the season. DePaul shot just .308 (8-26) from the field in the first half and held a 29-24 advantage at halftime. The second half saw the Blue Demons go 12-for-29 (.414) to finish with a team field goal percentage of .364.
Florida A&M opened up an early 7-0 lead before DePaul roared back scoring 11 of the next 13 points with an Eli Cain free throw giving the home team an 11-10 lead midway through the first half.
DePaul (5-1) pushed its lead to nine points early in the second half, but the Rattlers stayed within striking distance and three straight three-pointers gave them a 35-33 lead.
The Blue Demons retook the lead the for good on a three-pointer by Jalen Coleman-Lands and led for the remainder of the night. A 17-footer by Paul Reed pushed the advantage to 11 with 7:31 left and DePaul would lead by double-figures for the rest of the game. Down the stretch DePaul held Florida A&M (2-7) without a field goal over the final 9:58 and the Blue Demons cruised to a 65-50 final score.
Justin Ravenel led the Rattlers with 13 points while Tracy Hector chipped in nine points.
Olujobi added seven rebounds to his team-high 16 points while Cain fined with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists. Coleman-Lands knocked down a pair of three-pointers en route to 13 points and Reed just missed his first career double-double with a career-high 14 rebounds to go with nine points.
DePaul returns to action on Saturday as the Blue Demons travel to Chicago's north suburb of Evanston for an 11 a.m. tip at Northwestern. The game can be seen on the Big Ten Network and heard on WSCR 670 The Score.
