DePaul Fights Butler to 2-2 Draw

CHICAGO - DePaul men's soccer fought the Butler Bulldogs to a 2-2 draw Saturday night at the Sellick Bowl. The Blue Demons move to 4-5-3 overall and 0-1-3 in conference play.
Jake Fuderer got things started for DePaul in the 18th minute to take a 1-0 lead off a free kick. Butler would refuse to let up and even the score with a goal from Derek Sutton at the beginning of the second half at 1-1 in the 48th minute.
The Bulldogs would take a 2-1 lead by Jared Timmer off a corner kick in the 77th minute but things reversed for DePaul. Senior Max de Bruijne tied things up in the 89th minute off a penalty kick and force overtime.
Despite any overtime efforts, the game would result in a 2-2 draw with each team earning a point in conference play.
Youssef Ramadan, Jack Richards and Zach El-Shafei all notched three shots for DePaul. Keeper Drew Nuelle made three stops over the course of the match.
Alex Lehtinen had a team high three shots for Butler. Gabriel Gjergi notched four saves for the Bulldogs in between the posts.
