Youssef Ramadan's bid to tie the match went off crossbar with 12 minutes left

CHICAGO – Battling each other and the weather, DePaul dropped a 1-0 match to visiting Xavier on Saturday afternoon at Wish Field. A steady rain and temperatures in the 40's throughout the match kept turned the match into a defensive standoff.

Following a scoreless first half, DePaul outshot the Musketeers by a 6-4 margin in the second period and held a 10-7 advantage on shots in the match.

Xavier converted a defensive miscue by the Blue Demons as Karsen Henderlong stole the ball and dribbled into the box before his shot found the net at 61:04.

The Blue Demons turned up the pressure to find the equalizer and nearly tied the match when Youssef Ramadan's 20-yarder caromed off the crossbar before Xavier cleared it and regained possession.

Xavier finished the match with eight corner kicks to three for the Blue Demons while Drew Nuelle tallied a pair of saves.

The Blue Demons travel to St. John's on Saturday, Nov. 2 before the regular-season finale against Marquette on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at Wish Field.
