FULLERTON, Calif. - The Blue Demons fell to Iowa State 6-4 after nine innings of play in the first game of the Easton Invitational Friday afternoon.

DePaul captured an early lead as both Angela Scalzitti and Kate Polucha reached on two fielder's choice decisions. Polucha advanced to second on a wild pitch before the two crossed home on a powerful double from Gabby O'Riley. O'Riley was then brought home on a single from Erin Andris to give the Blue Demons a 3-0 lead.

In the top of the fourth, Iowa State brought in its first two runs of the game to cut into the deficit.

In the bottom half of the inning, Skylor Hilger responded by launching her first home run of the season to double DePaul's lead 4-2.

ISU crept back up again in the top of the fifth to bring it to a single-run difference before scoring another run in the bottom of the sixth to make it a tie game.

The Cyclones would hold DePaul to its four runs and would bring home two more runs in the bottom of the ninth to win the game.
