DePaul Returns to Cacciatore Stadium for Series Against Providence

CHICAGO, Ill. - After DePaul's home-opening series was cut short due to weather, the Blue Demons return to Cacciatore Stadium this weekend to host the series against Providence. Saturday will feature a doubleheader beginning at noon and Sunday will see a single game also set for noon.
DePaul players currently dominate the league in the stat sheets and boast a record of 26-9 (6-1 BIG EAST) on the season.
The Blue Demons take the top seven spots in the BIG EAST for hits with Jessica Cothern (35), Kate Polucha (33), Maranda Gutierrez (31), Angela Scalzitti (28), Gabby O'Riley (27), Morgan Greenwood (26) and Skylor Hilger (19) leading the way.
The top seven spots in the RBI category also belong to the Blue Demons courtesy of Cothern (29), Polucha (29), O'Riley (23), Greenwood (20), Gutierrez (13), Scalzitti (9) and Alysia Rodriguez (9).
Krista Dalgarn and Natalie Halvorson top the league in strikeouts, with Dalgarn's 77 on the season and Halvorson's 59.
In last weekend's series sweep of Georgetown, the Blue Demons saw four home runs, one of which being a grand slam from Polucha, landing her as the BIG EAST Player of the Week.
Last Time Versus Providence
DePaul enters the weekend looking for its 19th straight win against the Friars.
Scouting The Friars
Providence was picked to finish eighth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Currently 23-14 (5-4 BIG EAST), PC enters the weekend coming off a 5-4 win against Central Connecticut State.
Leading Friar offense is Emma Lee. With a batting average of .450, Lee is 49-for-109 at the plate. She has collected six doubles, one triple, one home run and has added on 13 RBI for Providence this season.
On the mound, Daniela Alvarez displays the highest win count for the Friars with a record of 12-5 on the season. She has an era of 2.08 and has allowed 99 hits and 43 runs.
