DePaul Drops Final Home Game Against Creighton

CHICAGO, Ill. - DePaul dropped the final home game of the season 6-4 in a close battle against Creighton. DePaul's record is now 31-12 (10-4 BIG EAST).
The Bluejays were the first to strike in the top of the first on a two-run homer. In the top of the second, Creighton added on one more on an RBI double.
Back-to-back singles from Erin Andris and Maranda Gutierrez in the bottom of the third forced an early Creighton pitching change. With no outs in the inning, a powerful double from Jessica Cothern would score Andris to put DePaul on the board.
The Bluejays would respond on a solo homer in the top of the fourth and with two outs, a two-run home run would grow their lead to 6-1 before Natalie Halvorson entered the circle for DePaul.
In the bottom of the sixth, Morgan Greenwood brought in DePaul's second run of the game on a solo home run. Angela Scalzitti reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to third on a single from Taylor Young. Scalzitti scored on a sac fly from Rodriguez to make it 6-3.
In the final frame, Gutierrez was walked and advanced to third on a double from Cothern. Greenwood was intentionally walked to load the bases. Kate Polucha reached on a fielder's choice that brought Gutierrez home to make it 6-4 for the last run of the game.
