WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Blue Demons dominated the doubleheader against Georgetown, defeating the Hoyas 5-3 in the second contest of the day. DePaul's record improves to 25-9 (5-1 BIG EAST), while Georgetown's drops to 9-26 (2-5 BIG EAST).

The Blue Demons were the first to get on board in the top of the third. Angela Scalzitti was walked and stole second before Morgan Greenwood was also walked. Scalzitti advanced to third on a fly out from Kate Polucha. Both Greenwood and Scalzitti scored on a double from Gabby O'Riley.

With two outs and O'Riley on second, Maranda Gutierrez launched her fifth home run of the season to put the Blue Demons up 4-0.

The Hoyas put up a single run in the bottom of the fourth.

DePaul scored its final run in the top of the fifth. Greenwood was walked and replaced by pinch-runner Madison Fisher. Fisher advanced to second and then to third on an O'Riley single. Taylor Young entered the game to pinch run for O'Riley and stole second before Gutierrez reached on a fielder's choice. With the bases loaded, Alysia Rodriguez was walked to bring in Young.

Georgetown would score two more runs but would not be able to reach the Blue Demons.

DePaul will play one final contest in the series against the Hoyas tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. CT.
