DePaul Takes Game Two Against Villanova

The Blue Demons got on the board in the top of the first after Maranda Gutierrez singled and after advancng to third, scored on a fly out from Kate Polucha.
Villanova scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning and one in the bottom of the second to take a 4-1 lead.
Both teams would remain quiet until the top of the seventh when Gutierrez doubled and scored on a double from Jessica Cothern. Morgan Greenwood then launched a two-run blast to score Cothern and knot things at 4-4. DePaul then brought out one more run in the inning to take the lead after Angela Scalzitti doubled and then scored on a single from Alysia Rodriguez.
A solo home run from Villanova in the bought of the seventh would enforce extra innings. In the top of the eighth, Erin Andris and Gutierrez each singled and advanced on a wild pitch. The pair scored on a triple from Cothern. Krista Dalgarn held the Wildcats in the bottom half of the inning to secure the victory for DePaul.
