Softball Set for BIG EAST Semifinals

CHICAGO, Ill. - No. 2 seed DePaul and No. 3 seed Providence will face off in the BIG EAST semifinals tomorrow at 3 p.m. CT. The championship will take place at The Ballpark at Rosemont. Tomorrow's game will be broadcast on FS2.Â
The Blue Demons enter the tournament with a record of 32-14 (11-5 BIG EAST). DePaul won the series against the Friars at Cacciatore Stadium earlier this season after winning the first game 8-0 and the second game 8-2 before the third was cancelled due to weather. Providence has a record of 30-21 (11-9 BIG EAST) after going 2-1 in a series against Georgetown this weekend.
General admission ticket prices per day are $5 (Age 13 and over) and admission is free for those 12 and under. BIG EAST students can also receive complimentary game tickets by showing a valid school I.D. at the box office. To reserve tickets in advance, call the DePaul University Ticket Office at 773-325-SLAM (7526). Tickets will also be available on game days at The Ballpark at Rosemont box office.
Scouting the Friars
Finishing up the regular-season with a record of 30-21 (11-9 BIG EAST), Providence last went 2-1 in the series against Georgetown to clinch a spot as the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Championship. After finishing seventh in the league last season, the Friars have culminated their most wins since 2005 under a brand new coaching staff in 2019. The Friars enter the tournament winning five of their last seven games after sweeping the series against Butler and earning two wins over Georgetown.
Last Time Versus Providence
DePaul holds a decisive 25-3 advantage in the series against Providence, with the most recent meeting being an 8-2 victory at Cacciatore Stadium on April 13, 2019 in a series that was cut short due to inclement weather conditions. The Blue Demons also took the first game of the series by a difference of 8-0. In the most recent face off between the two, there were home runs from three different Blue Demon batters in Maranda Gutierrez, Jessica Cothern and Alysia Rodriguez for DPU's 20th straight win against the Friars.
