CHICAGO - DePaul softball fell in a narrow 1-0 game to Southern Illinois on Saturday on the second day of the Saluki Invitational. The Blue Demons fall to 7-11 and 1-2 thus far in the tournament.
The game's lone run came in the bottom of the third inning when Maddy Vermejan crossed the plate off a Susie Baranski single.
Erin Andris, Brooke Johnson and Angela Scalzitti all singled for the Blue Demons but couldn't make it across the plate. DePaul had Andris in scoring position in the top of the seventh but Sarah Harness struck out Cara Jimenez looking and that was game.
Junior Natalie Halvorson (1-3) stayed in the circle through the duration of the game striking out five, but ultimately earning the loss.
