The Blue Demons head to the Music City for the final non-conference matchup of the season
CHICAGO – DePaul women's soccer will head to the Music City to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores in an exhibition matchup on Saturday, Feb. 27 at noon CT. The Blue Demons will match up with the Commodores at Vanderbilt Soccer Complex for the first-ever meeting between the two sides. The game will be aired on SEC Network+.
The exhibition contest in Nashville will be DePaul's final tune up before starting BIG EAST play with a trip to Indianapolis on March 4 to take on the Butler Bulldogs. The Blue Demons are coming off of a 2-1 season-opening win over Valparaiso last Monday. DePaul claimed the match in thrilling fashion after junior defender Sydney Parker slotted a game-winning goal in the final minute of regulation.
After the Blue Demons got on the board against Valpo early off of a Morgan Turner goal in the fifth minute, both teams were held scoreless until DePaul was whistled for a foul in its own 18-yard box. Valpo executed a penalty kick to tie the game with just over four minutes remaining. The Blue Demons offense went on the attack and broke through with Parker's goal with less than a minute remaining in regulation.
DePaul's matchup against the defending SEC Tournament Champions will be the squad's first meeting with an SEC opponent since the Blue Demons fell to the South Carolina Gamecocks 0-1 on Sept. 8, 2019.
