Men's Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision at Marquette

Blue Demons' bid for third win in a row comes up short on Sunday
MILWAUKEE – DePaul's bid to extend its winning streak to three came up just a little short on Sunday.
The men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to BIG EAST rival Marquette and is now 3-2 on the season.
The Blue Demons opened the doubles competition with No. 1 tandem Christopher Casati and Boris Spanjaard beating Luis Heredia Gomez and Fran San Andres 6-4.
But the Golden Eagles came away with the next two matches in claiming the doubles point at the Helfaer Tennis & Recreation Center.
The home team went ahead 2-0 with its singles win at No. 3. Vito Tonejc chopped the deficit in half after defeating Luis Heredia Gomez 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 1 position.
Marquette (3-3) clinched the match with singles wins at No. 4 and No. 2.
Fran Tonejc beat Ian Brady 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Tripp Tuff topped Julian Robinson 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 at No. 6.
DePaul has a busy weekend coming up with home matches against NAIA No. 3-ranked Cardinal Stritch on Friday, Northern Illinois on Saturday and Drake on Sunday at XS Tennis on the South Side.
