Blue Demons Host Omaha in Regular-Season Finale

Men's Tennis Celebrates Senior Day Friday at XS Tennis
CHICAGO – The finale of this pandemic regular season for the DePaul men's tennis team will be especially memorable for five Blue Demons.
Tennis players and graduate students Christopher Casati, Boris Spanjaard, Fran Tonejc and Tamas Zador along with manager Dawid Dabrowski will be honored Friday in a Senior Day ceremony after DePaul's match against Omaha at XS Tennis Village on the South Side.
First serve is set for 12 p.m.
Casati, Spanjaard, Tonejc and Zador have been key components for coach Matt Brothers' program, helping lead DePaul to the BIG EAST Championship semifinals in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Spanjaard was honored as the BIG EAST Athlete of the Week for men's tennis on Thursday after going 4-0 last week in singles and doubles. He was All-BIG EAST First Team in 2018 and selected to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team in 2018 and 2019.
Casati earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors in 2018 and was named an ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete in 2019. He was also chosen for the ITA All-Academic Team in 2017-18-19.
Tonejc joined Casati as an ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete in 2019 and is a three-time member of the ITA All-Academic Team.
Zador was DePaul's third ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete in 2019 and has also been a three-time selection to the ITA All-Academic Team.
Fran's younger brother Vito has been a singles standout this season and will bring an 11-4 record into Friday's match including 9-4 at the challenging No. 1 position.
Tripp Tuff is 11-6 in singles while Luuk Wassenaar is 8-6 and Spanjaard 8-7.
Casati and Spanjaard are 11-3 in doubles with all but one match in the No. 1 slot. Vito Tonejc and Wassenaar are 5-2 and have won three in a row.
Omaha has played an impressive 24 matches in this pandemic season, going 10-14. The Mavericks come to the South Side having lost three in a row.
