CHICAGO – The DePaul bats were quieted on Wednesday afternoon as Northern Illinois claimed a 6-0 victory at Cacciatore Stadium.
The Blue Demons were held to five hits, including just one for an extra base, as nine runners were left aboard on the base paths.
Northern Illinois (20-19) plated just two earned runs, with tallies coming in the third and sixth innings, as a pair of DePaul errors allowed a four-run fifth inning to open the game.
Junior second baseman Payton Viles went 2-for-3 on the day including a leadoff double in the fifth inning. Carly Alvers, Riley Pool and Grace Frazier each recorded a base knock of their own.
In the circle, Abbey Pochie went for four and a third innings, allowing five runs and seven hits before Katey Pierce surrendered a run on a pair of hits in relief.
