Blue Demons Drop Good Friday Doubleheader to Creighton

Saturday's series finale slated for 12 p.m.
CHICAGO – DePaul softball dropped a twin bill at the hands of the Creighton Bluejays on Friday at Cacciatore Stadium.
The Blue Demons led for the entirety of game one before Creighton posted a seventh-inning rally to take the narrow 3-2 victory. In game two, the Bluejays led from start to finish after posting five combined runs through two innings and eventually claiming a 14-3 win in six innings.
Four DePaul (11-20, 3-8 BIG EAST) batters posted an average of .300 or better on the day with Addison Talbot and Brooke Johnson leading the way with .500 outings.
Talbot brought in a run on a sacrifice in game two while also making a handful of dazzling defensive plays in left field.
Johnson was responsible for the pair of runs in Friday's first game. The first baseman went 1-for-2 in official at bats, while drawing three walks and notching a sacrifice fly to go along with an RBI-single. Â
Baylee Cosgrove was 2-for-5 (.400) on the day, bringing around a run in game two on her first home run of the season.
At the leadoff spot, Anna Wohlers posted a .375 average on three hits including a stand up double and solo home run in the second game of the day.
In the circle, Brenna Smith threw the entirety of game one, allowing three runs on eight hits while notching a career-best six strikeouts. Right-hander Katey Pierce got the start in game two and surrendered five earned runs on six hits before Abbey Pochie entered in relief allowing a handful more runs on six hits.
