DePaul Closes Homestand Against Seton Hall Thursday

CHICAGO – DePaul women's soccer plays host to Seton Hall on Thursday, Oct. 17, with kickoff set for 3 p.m. CT at Wish Field in Lincoln Park. Fans can follow the action on the BIG EAST Digital Network/FloSports and StatBroadcast.

Thursday's match will be DePaul's Kick Cancer Match, encouraging fans to support the fight against cancer by wearing a colored ribbon.

DePaul (3-5-5, 1-1-3 BIG EAST) earned its first ranked victory in five seasons with a 1-0 win over then-No. 18 Georgetown on Sunday, Oct. 6. Beth Smyth and Elena Milam played key roles in the Blue Demons' success against the Hoyas, with both earning BIG EAST weekly honors for Offensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week. DePaul has lost only one match since Sept. 1.

Seton Hall (4-7-3, 1-2-2 BIG EAST) fell to No. 20 Xavier in a 3-0 decision on Sunday, Oct. 13. The Pirates' last win came on Oct. 6 against Providence, when Chiara Pucci scored her third goal of the season to secure a 1-0 victory. Seton Hall enters Thursday with a 1-5-2 record on the road.

The Blue Demons are 3-1-4 in their last eight matches.
DePaul has the second-longest unbeaten streak in the BIG EAST, currently at four matches.
In their most recent match, DePaul defeated then-No. 18 Georgetown, securing their first ranked victory since 2019, when they beat then-No. 14 Georgetown.
The 1-0 victory marked the first time an unranked team defeated a ranked opponent with only one shot on goal since 2004, when Auburn defeated then-No. 7 Florida, 1-0.
Cal State Northridge is the only other Division I team to secure a victory in 2024 with one shot on goal, defeating Long Beach State 1-0 on Sept. 26.
Sophomore Shayna da Silva recorded her first career assist against the Hoyas.
Elena Milam earned her fifth shutout of the season on Oct. 13, bringing her career total to nine; she is tied for second in the BIG EAST for shutouts this season.
Beth Smyth earned her first career BIG EAST Weekly Honor and Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, Oct. 14.
Milam received her fourth weekly award of the season on Monday, earning Goalkeeper of the Week.
88.89% of DePaul's goals have been assisted by different players (eight out of nine).
The Blue Demons are currently tied for fifth in the BIG EAST standings with Villanova and Providence, each with six points.
Milam ranks third in the league with 46 saves.

Pirates' Points

Josh Osit is in his third year leading Seton Hall, having joined the team in July 2022.
The Pirates finished the 2023 season with a 6-7-5 record, including a 2-4-4 mark in conference play.
Senior Natalie Tavana was named the 2024 BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year.
Tavana and Pucci each earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll honors on 9/30 and 10/7, respectively.
Tavana leads Seton Hall with 53 shots, 22 shots on goal, and three assists.
Pucci is the team's leading scorer with three goals this season.
Seton Hall ranks sixth in the BIG EAST with 155 shot attempts.
The Pirates are fourth in the league with 60 saves.
Tavana recorded the most shot attempts in a single match in the BIG EAST this season with nine against Rider on Aug. 25.
Goalkeepers Anna Prawer and Avery Strohecker have combined for 58 saves and have allowed 20 goals this season.

The Blue Demons are unbeaten in their last ten matchups against the Pirates, dating back to 2013.
