DePaul Falls on Tuesday at Northwestern

EVANSTON, ILL. - DePaul softball dropped a 3-1 decision at Northwestern, Tuesday afternoon.

Baylee Cosgrove went 1-for-2 at the plate, recording her 16th hit and sixth RBI of the season. Carly Alvers tallied a hit for the third-straight game.

Freshman Lydia Ettema (1-3) started in the circle, going 1.0 inning and giving up three runs on two hits. Brenna Smith appeared in relief, throwing 5.0 innings and allowing no runs on two hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Carly Alvers started the second with a base hit to center field and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Bibianna Rodriguez. Alvers moved to third on a wild pitch and a single to right field from Cosgrove scored Alvers for a 1-0 lead.

The Wildcats responded in the bottom of the second, tying the game with a single, 1-1. Northwestern then used a two-run single to take a 3-1 lead.

Both teams were held scoreless and hitless after the fourth inning.

DePaul returns to action against Northern Illinois on Tuesday, March 26. First pitch from DeKalb, Ill. is set for 3 p.m. CT.
