Blue Demons look to build on three-win opening weekend
CHICAGO – DePaul softball will look to build on their three-win opening weekend when they travel to the Skyhawk Classic in Martin, Tennessee. The Blue Demons will play an abbreviated schedule on Friday, February 14 due to weather concerns, facing Purdue Fort Wayne at 8:30am, and UT Martin at 10:30am.

"Our team played with heart last weekend, gaining valuable experience in challenging situations," said head coach Liz-Bouck Jagielski.
"We're now focused on consistency to secure early leads and maintain control throughout the game. We are excited about the weekend ahead to keep our momentum going."

DePaul will travel to Wilmington, North Carolina for three days of play Feb.21-23. They will face both Rider and host institution UNCW twice, as well as UMass.

BLUE DEMON BITS
- DePaul's pitching staff owns a 2.55 ERA, the best in the BIG EAST and led by a 1.61 ERA from junior Kelly Greene, who appeared in five of six games
- The two complete games and two wins posted by Greene are the most by a Blue Demon pitcher on opening weekend since Sarah Lehman posted the same count at the 2022 DePaul Dome Tournament
- Junior Bella Nigey earned a win for DePaul in their opening game against Detroit Mercy, and the Bettendorf, Iowa native sits fifth in the conference at ten strikeouts over ten innings pitched
- Five of DePaul's six freshmen saw action on opening weekend, with catcher Zoe Levine in the starting lineup for all six games, tallying three hits and four RBIs
- Graduate student Kelly Beaupre holds a team-leading .429 batting average, good for tenth in the BIG EAST
- Senior Addison Talbot recorded two multi-hit games during the tournament, including a walk-off double against Western Illinois
- The Mastodons went 1-4 at the Kickin' Chicken Classic, tallying three losses against BIG EAST opponent Creighton, including narrowly falling in eight innings on Sunday
- In their lone victory over Coastal Carolina, the Mastodons overcame a two-run deficit by driving home six of their seven runs in the fifth frame, jumpstarted by a triple from junior Bailey Manos
- Both 2024 Horizon League Freshman of the Year Aglaia Rudd and fellow first-team selection Grace Hollopeter return to the Purdue Fort Wayne roster, combining for three runs and seven hits over the weekend
- The Skyhawks earned their two victories of opening weekend in 8-0 shutouts over South Carolina State and Stonehill, with starting pitcher Ashytn Green improving to 2-0 on the year
- Sophomore Kyla Harley leads the squad with a .438 batting average and six runs on seven hits, after making just 15 starts in 2024
- Chelsea Farmer officially took the helm in June 2024, after serving as interim head coach for a 2024 campaign that saw 30 wins, four all-conference selections, and a berth to the Ohio Valley Conference Championship

- DePaul will face host institution UT Martin for the first time in the 2025 Skyhawk Classic
- The Blue Demons met Purdue Fort Wayne in 2019, taking home a 1-0 win in their lone meeting with the Mastodons
