Blue Demons Welcome Friars to Lincoln Park

DePaul to recognize their five seniors on Saturday
CHICAGO – DePaul softball (12-13, 1-5 BIG EAST) will welcome the Providence Friars (7-16, 3-3 BIG EAST) to Cacciatore Stadium March 21-22 for a three-game series. The sides will square off at 1 p.m. Friday, and again at approximately 3:30 p.m., or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first contest. Saturday's game will commence at 12 p.m., with the Senior Day ceremony to follow.
All games will feature complimentary admission for all fans and can be streamed on FloSports.

DePaul will host Loyola Chicago and Valparaiso for a duo of midweek contests at Cacciatore Stadium, welcoming the Ramblers on Tuesday, March 25, and the Beacons on Wednesday, March 26. BLUE DEMON BITS
- Senior Addison Talbot leads the way with a .333 batting average, notching her first home run of the season against UIC on Tuesday, and just the second of her career
- Freshmen pitcher Hannah Messer earned her first start in the circle against the Flames on Tuesday, hurling a career-high 3.1 innings, and allowing three runs on five hits.
- Reentering at the end of the game, Messer earned her second career save in the 9-8 victory, while Kelly Greene was tagged with her sixth win of the year
- Senior leadoff hitter Baylee Cosgrove has the longest reached base streak on the team at 12 games, along with a .312 average at the plate
- DePaul has turned three double plays in six conference games, the most of any BIG EAST team
- Redshirt sophomore Kali Blount has eight doubles, which leads the Blue Demons and is good for second in the league across all games
SCOUTING THE FRIARS
- The Friars travel to Chicago for their first road series of conference play, having earned a series win against Creighton and taking one of three from Butler at home
- A quartet of Friars are batting above .300, led by junior outfielder Elisa Smith, who boasts a .431 average, 17 runs, and 31 hits, all team-bests
- Fellow outfielder Gabriella Lee is a perfect six for six on stolen base attempts, and Smith follows closely behind with five stolen bases
- Tori Grifone earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on March 10, after a standout performance against Creighton, finishing the first conference weekend with a 1.27 ERA and 15 strikeouts
- Grifone continues to lead the pitching staff with a 5.84 ERA in 49.1 innings of work, 33 strikeouts, and a 3-6 mark as the pitcher of record
SERIES STUFF
- DePaul holds the overall series advantage at 31-8, with five of Providence's eight victories coming in 2022 or later
- The last single-game victory for the Blue Demons was a 9-5 win on April 2, 2023 at Cacciatore Stadium
- DePaul's most recent three-game series win came as a sweep in 2018 on the road
- Providence has won four of the last five contests, dating back to 2023
