Blue Demons Open Outdoor Season at UCF

Track and field begins third-straight outdoor season in Orlando, Fla.
ORLANDO, Fla. – DePaul track and field kicks off its outdoor season at the Black & Gold Invitational on March 21-22 at the UCF Track and Field Complex in Orlando, Fla. The Blue Demons are set to compete against over 40 teams, including several nationally ranked programs:

DePaul enters the outdoor season following a historic indoor campaign marked by multiple school records, BIG EAST titles, and an NCAA Indoor Championship appearance.
Darius Brown became just the second DePaul track and field athlete to earn three All-American honors after securing a spot on the Second Team with his 10th-place finish in the men's 60m hurdles at the NCAA Championships. Brown matched his school record and the BIG EAST Indoor Championship meet record with a time of 7.61 seconds.
The Blue Demons claimed five individual BIG EAST titles at the Indoor Conference Championships. Demetrius Rolle won the men's 60m in a school-record 6.73 seconds, while Sade Miller secured the women's 60m crown with a school-record 7.46. Darius Brown took gold in the men's 60m hurdles, and Jaiden Gary captured the men's shot put title with a mark of 17.74m. Alex Bernstein also successfully defended his BIG EAST weight throw title. The women's 4x400m relay team of Kayliah Motes, Sonja Nagle, Claire Dunn, and Nadja Moll also set a school record (3:42.12) on their way to a third-place finish. DePaul placed third on the men's side with 90 points and finished fourth in the women's team standings with 91 points, rounding out a strong showing at the BIG EAST Championships.

DePaul's roster features 22 total newcomers, along with 48 letterwinners returning for the outdoor season. The Blue Demons welcome two walk-ons for their outdoor slate: graduate student Ella LeRoy, an Evanston, Ill., native from Pacific University who looks to make an impact in the throws, and freshman hurdler Ryan Usher from Frankfort, Ill. In addition to these additions, DePaul boasts a deep and experienced group ready to compete at a high level across all event groups.
With momentum from a record-breaking indoor season, DePaul is poised to make an impact on the outdoor circuit. The Blue Demons will look to build on their success as they compete against elite competition throughout the spring.
