Blue Demons Begin BIG EAST Play at Butler

DePaul enters conference play with league-leading 2.18 ERA
CHICAGO – DePaul softball will travel to Butler March 7-9, to open BIG EAST conference play in Indianapolis, Indiana. The schedule has been updated as of Thursday afternoon, and the sides will square off at 1 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday, and conclude the weekend at 12 p.m. on Sunday. The Blue Demons seek their first series win over the Bulldogs since 2021.

"We are incredibly proud of our team's achievements, holding the lowest ERA and second-highest batting average in the BIG EAST as we enter conference play," said head coach Liz Bouck-Jagielski.
"While we know the journey ahead won't be easy, we are excited about the challenges that await us. With our hard work and determination, we will continue to fight relentlessly as we strive for our ultimate goal of becoming conference champions and competing in the NCAA tournament."

The Blue Demons host their home-opening series at Cacciatore Stadium March 14-16, welcoming the Seton Hall Pirates for three games. New this season, admission to DePaul softball games will be complimentary for all fans. Friday's game will stream on BIG EAST Digital Network, while the other two games will stream on FloCollege.

BLUE DEMON BITS
- DePaul's pitching staff holds a league-best 2.18 ERA, also good for 11th in the nation, led by junior Bella Nigey, who boasts a 1.91 ERA, 44 strikeouts, and a 6-1 tally as the pitcher of record
- The Blue Demons post a .301 batting average through 18 games, placing them at second in the conference, paced by a .341 mark from Bibianna Rodriguez
- Freshman Zoe Levine is the only Blue Demon to tally four RBIs in a single game this season, and she is also tied with sophomore Morgan Rogers for the most multi-hit games, at four
- Rogers has recently excelled, with five of her 15 runs on the year coming last weekend at the JU Classic, including her first career home run
- Senior mainstay Baylee Cosgrove has tallied a team-leading 16 hits and 12 RBI
- Butler enters the weekend at 11-5, after a two-game skid in Madeira Beach, falling to both Binghamton and Bellarmine on March 2
- The Bulldogs top the league with a .303 batting average, led by returning All-BIG EAST outfielder Cate Lehner, who holds a .433 average and 26 hits on the year
- Pitcher Rylyn Dyer produced just the fourth no-hitter in program history on Feb. 24, as the Bulldogs defeated Western Illinois, 3-0
- Butler came to town for the DePaul Dome Tournament to open their non-conference slate, posting a 4-1 record, with their only loss to Western Illinois
- The Blue Demons hold the all-time series advantage over the Bulldogs, 19-15
- DePaul's most recent single-game win came on April 6, 2024 at Cacciatore Stadium, and they clinched their last series against Butler in May 2021in Indianapolis, a three-game sweep
