DePaul Drops Series Opener to Butler on Friday

Kelly Greene threw the opening 1.2 innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and totaling three strikeouts. Freshmen Ava Gusel and Hannah Messer both entered briefly in relief, before senior Katey Pierce concluded the final inning. Pierce allowed four runs on five hits in 1.1 innings of work. Greene falls to 4-6 in the circle.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a scoreless first inning that saw Greene retire the Bulldogs in order, Butler tallied nine RBI in the second inning, and an additional 12 RBI in the third frame. Butler's scoring was highlighted by a three-RBI double from Leigh Vande Hei, and a three-RBI home run from Makena Alexander.
DePaul brought across two runs in the fifth, after hits from freshmen Addi Burdick and Chelsea Parker, but it would not be enough, as Butler took the 21-2 victory.
