
Blue Demons Head to Villanova for Three Games

VILLANOVA, Pa. – DePaul softball concludes its seven-game road swing at Villanova April 12-13. The teams will play an amended schedule over two days, with one game Saturday at noon CT, and a doubleheader beginning Sunday at 9 a.m. CT. The second game Sunday will begin approximately thirty minutes following the conclusion of the first.

The Blue Demons return home to face local foe UIC on Tuesday, April 15 at 4 p.m. All fans can enjoy one-dollar hot dogs from concessions, and the first 100 to arrive will receive Pit Viper sunglasses in Letterwinner Plaza. The team will also celebrate Jackie Robinson Day in collaboration with Cubs Nike RBI.

BLUE DEMON BITS
- Junior Bella Nigey continues to lead the DePaul pitching staff with a 1.95 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 64.2 innings pitched. Nigey has appeared in 17 games and notched 12 starts
- Baylee Cosgrove owns a .321 average at the plate and 35 hits, both team bests, and is one of just three Blue Demons to start all 34 games this season, along with Kali Blount and Zoe Levine
- Against Notre Dame on Tuesday evening, Cosgrove also extended her hitting streak to seven games, tied for the longest on the squad with Lydia Ettema
- Graduate student Kelly Beaupre has been a steady force for DePaul, with the highest on-base percentage (.453), and longest active reached base streak at eight games
- On days playing two games, the Blue Demons have won at least one contest eight of 11 times
- The Blue Demons sit third in the league with 33 stolen bases, while the Wildcats are just behind at 29 stolen bags
- Three members of the pitching staff have seen the bulk of the work for Villanova, Kat Gallant, Lexi Kobryn, and Kelsey White
- Kobryn leads the squad with 20 appearances, 15 starts, a 3.79 ERA, 73 strikeouts, 10 complete games, and two saves
- Sophomore Elizabeth Gray is the only Wildcat with at least five attempts to remain perfect on stolen bases (6-6)
- Ava Franz tops the squad with 11 multi-hit games, including four with three hits
- Sophomore Maranda Runco has also been impressive at the plate for Villanova, leading the team with a .347 batting average and 32 RBI
- The team recently logged a new single-game season high with 15 hits against Boston College on April 6
- The Blue Demons lead the all-time series, 32-16, dating back to an 8-0 victory in six innings on April 23, 2006
- Villanova has won nine of the last ten meetings, with DePaul's last victory coming on April 2, 2022, at Cacciatore Stadium
- On the road, DePaul is 12-8 against Villanova
