DePaul Concludes Home Slate Against Creighton

CHICAGO – DePaul softball hosts Creighton April 25-27 for its penultimate series of the season. First pitch on Friday is slated for 1 p.m., while the Saturday and Sunday games will both commence at noon. Admission is complimentary for all fans, and all three contests will stream on FloCollege. The full weekend schedule is outlined below.

Prior to Saturday, the Blue Demons will celebrate the 20^th anniversary of their 2005 Women's College World Series team. The 2005 squad defeated Northwestern twice to win the Chicago Super Regional and advance to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as one of the top eight teams in the nation.

BLUE DEMON BITS

Bella Nigey continues to lead the DePaul pitching staff with a 2.84 ERA, good for fourth in the league, and 17 starts, her most in a single season. Nigey needs seven more strikeouts to exceed her single-season best of 67 strikeouts from 2023
Senior Baylee Cosgrove logged five total hits against UConn, matching her most in a conference series this season, and leads the team in batting average (.323), hits (42), and doubles (ten). Her ten doubles are good for fourth in the BIG EAST
Brooke Cwick notched her tenth start of the year at Illinois on Tuesday, and fourth at first base, after recording her first pair of doubles over the weekend against UConn
Freshman duo Ava Gusel and Hannah Messer have made 40 combined appearances on the season, the first time multiple freshmen have been in the regular pitching rotation since 2017
Chicago native Morgan Rogers tops the squad with 25 runs scored, adding the third home run of her career at Illinois

SCOUTING THE BLUEJAYS

Creighton owns a 9-9 tally in BIG EAST play after taking one of three from St. John's over the weekend, narrowly losing by one run on both Friday and Sunday
The Bluejays sit second in the conference with a .357 batting average in league games, including a .459 mark from everyday shortstop Ashten Pierson, also the first freshman in BIG EAST history to win Defensive Player of the Year
Sydra Seville has 19 multi-hit games to her name and held a 21-game reached base streak to begin the season, before it was snapped on March 22 at Seattle

SERIES STUFF

DePaul leads the all-time series against Creighton, 23-15, last winning on April 8, 2023, at Cacciatore Stadium
The teams met 13 times before playing a game in Chicago, including seven meetings in Omaha and six at neutral sites
At home, the Blue Demons are 9-6 against the Bluejays, with their last series win against Creighton coming in Lincoln Park in 2021
