Men’s tennis seeks first perfect league record since 2022
CHICAGO – DePaul men's tennis returns to XS Tennis Village for the final time this dual season, hosting Marquette and Creighton Apr. 11-12 with an opportunity to close the regular season on a high note. The Blue Demons will face the Golden Eagles at 3 p.m. on Saturday and the Bluejays at 1 p.m. on Sunday. After Sunday's match, DePaul will celebrate its four graduating student-athletes: Elias Anwar, Pablo Torres Almeida, Sven Moser and Alejandro Gandini.
Looking to finish perfect in BIG EAST play for the first time since 2022, DePaul (7-12, 4-0 BIG EAST) has been on a roll of late, winning four of its last five matches after a 3-11 start to the season. Last time out, the Blue Demons made quick work of two BIG EAST opponents on the road April 3-4, downing Georgetown in Annapolis, Md., 5-2, before closing with a dominant 6-1 victory over Villanova. One win in its final two matches will guarantee DePaul's home record remains above .500 for the 19th-consecutive year under head coach Matt Brothers.
Demon Doubles
DePaul's doubles pairings have begun to hit their stride, with each duo riding a recent stretch of strong results. Augusto Pardo Cano and Sebastian Medina earned their first victory at the No. 1 doubles spot on Apr. 4 and carry a 7-3 record across their last 10 appearances together. Alejandro Gandini and Pablo Torres Almeida picked up a win at the No. 2 spot last time out and hold a 4-3 record at the Blue Demons' top doubles court. Thomas Giles and Sven Moser have also found their footing, collecting back-to-back wins at No. 3.
