Eight Run 7th Inning Powers DePaul over East Carolina

CHICAGO - DePaul softball grabbed its second win in as many days over Pirate Clash host East Carolina. The Blue Demons (4-5) powered through an eight-run seventh inning to take a 13-2 victory over the Pirates.
ECU got on board early in the second inning with a one run lead and wouldn't score again until the bottom of the seventh.
The fourth inning proved to be just the beginning of this game for DePaul. Senior DP Krista Dalgarn walked up to the plate with bases loaded, fired off a single to right field and scored freshman Grace Frazier to get things started.
Kate Polucha doubled to score two more increasing DePaul's lead to 3-1. Seniors Angela Scalzitti and Erin Andris both tallied an RBI to push the Blue Demons to a 5-1 advantage.
In the top of the seventh, DePaul scored eight runs to seal the deal for their second victory in the Pirate Clash. Sophomore Gabby O'Riley singled to score two, before a bases loaded walk and an HBP would score another two. A double from Maranda Gutierrez scored Frazier and Dalgarn before a fielding error scored Gutierrez and Scalzitti.
Freshman Brooke Johnson took home the win Saturday with three strikeouts.
